Bridesmaids Gifts -- Sale Ends Feb. 16

American Bridal has a whole bunch of cute tote bags on sale . . . for just $5 a bag! A lot of these bags are priced between $35 and $50, so this sale is a really great deal and would make great gifts for your bridesmaids. You can even have the bags personalized for an extra $10 bag. Or, you can buy them as is and find a place to do the embroidery or even do it yourself if you're that talented (I'm not).

American Bridal also has some cute makeup bags, jewelry cases, and duffel bags at the $5 price. I even got myself a super cute garment bag!

Brown paper packages tied up with string

Remember my last post on the possibility of homemade truffles as wedding favors? Well, I bought the ingredients yesterday and will do my test run on Thursday evening (just in time for V-day). But in the meantime, I went in search of cute packaging ideas!

American bridal has some really cute and relatively inexpensive options including ones shaped like bridal gowns and tuxedo boxes.

You can also buy some cardstock and make your own boxes from the plethora of favor box templates out there! They have everything! From suitcases, to teapots, to pyramids, you can make all sorts of boxes!

Valentines...or Wedding Favors

I've never had truffles before, but they always look so pretty! See, I don't like chocolate (never have) so buying a very expensive piece of chocolate just because it looks good doesn't make much sense. Fiance, on the other hand, loves chocolate! So I make him goodies like Red Velvet Cookies, Brownies, and best chocolate cake ever.

I'm thinking of making him truffles for Valentines Day and, if they are successful, making them for our wedding guests as favors!

Guest blogger, Garrett McCord over on Simply Recipes posted a delicious looking recipe today!
It doesn't seem too complicated, either! There are a bunch of different ways to flaovr the truffles: he suggested mint, amaretto, cinamon and almond, but I would imagine there are a number of flavorings that would be delicious. If my first go round is successful, perhaps I will try out some others (kahlua, coffee, rum, etc...)

Just before Christmas, Miss Spring Roll over on weddingbee posted her recipe which seems even easier than the one from Simply Recipes! I think I'll give them both a go this weekend and hope the taste test goes well!

We are trying so hard to make our wedding intimate and special which is why I'd really like to make our favors. However, we're also on a tight budget so whatever favors we end up doing can't cost too much per person. Edible favors seems to be the way to go!

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Fiance and I absolutely LOVE football. I've been a fan for as long as I can remember; while other girls were playing with Barbies or My Little Ponies, I was collecting football cards. Seriously. My dad not so ceremoniously dumped all my old stuff off on us that had been sitting in my old room for years and I found the football cards that I collected when I was kid -- when I was as young as seven years old.

For Fiance, football is more of a recent passion -- say in the last five years or so -- but he is definitely no less a fan. We have bonded over our love of football and despite being from different areas, we actually do have two favorite teams in common! In fact, we had originally picked the month of August to have our wedding (though that didn't work out for reasons that I'll explain in another post) because we didn't want to interfere with football season. Seriously.

I would love to find some subtle ways to incorporate our love of football into our wedding, but I definitely didn't want a football themed wedding. So how do you incorporate football into a vintage themed wedding? Well, I certainly don't have the answer to that question, but I did find some cute football related things I hope to use!

What a cute little cake topper! From Sandra Lee's Shoppe, she has a huge variety of cute and unique bride and groom cake toppers. From various sports to hobbies to a princess bride kissing a frog! Super cute.

What about a nice sports garter? I absolutely love the second one -- it's one of our shared teams! The Notre Dame one is by The Garter Lady who also has a huge selection of beautiful garters -- from classic and romantic to funky and sporty. She also has a fantastic selection of vintage-y garters like her heirloom category.

How did you incorporate sports into your wedding?
